I am a warm, professional and engaging therapist. I work integratively from a humanistic and transpersonal perspective. I use Gestalt, Psychosynthesis, Attachment Theory and some CBT approaches within my work. I specialise in creative interventions, including sand tray, artwork and nesting dolls, amongst others. I also offer Focusing Orientated Psychotherapy and Energy Psychotherapy that work with your embodied experience to release trauma and distress and consider the mind, body and emotions as intrinsically connected (see more below).

I am an accredited member of the BACP. My experience includes counselling for the NHS in primary care, as a youth counsellor for various youth agencies and as a school counsellor. In addition, I lecture in counselling at diploma and degree level and am a qualified supervisor. I also speak and conferences and run CPD events.

I have a first class honours degree in counselling and psychotherapy from Greenwich University, and over 25 years' experience in various holistic health and therapeutic fields. I am a registered member of the BACP, and am fully insured and DBS checked.

How I work:

Previous to my counselling career I practiced holistic therapies and have extensive knowledge of how mental health can affect the body through the physiological holding patterns we adopt as protective responses to the felt sense of distress. Using focusing orientated, energy psychotherapy and trauma informed approaches allows 'bodies to do the talking', unwinding these patterns in ways that often reach deeper than words alone and facilitating healing.

My BA (Hons) dissertation studied creative interventions in counselling and the role of the therapist. Creative interventions can feel freeing and spontaneous, involving the imagination and inner child within therapy. Working creatively allows the unconscious to speak through visual and sensory means; helping to access parts of our psyche that are hard to verbalise. Using sand tray, objects and art can ease the challenges of expressing of difficult topics and allow us to see inside ourselves through physical form, aiding access to inner resources, healing and growth.
